Those who missed U2's live shows at Sphere in Las Vegas now have the chance to experience the band in a different way at the same distinctive venue.
"V-U2, An Immersive Concert Film," directed by Morleigh Steinberg and U2 guitarist The Edge, opened Sept. 5. Shot with Big Sky, an ultrahigh-resolution camera system, the film captures the best of U2's performances at Sphere. About 700,000 fans attended 40 sold-out dates from September 2023 through March.
"The goal was to give the immersive moviegoers as close to the live 'U2:UV' concert experience as possible, and then some. I've never seen a U2 show. I'm so relieved I caught a great one," The Edge said.
In addition to the unparalled scale and clarity of the images on the 160,000-square-foot interior display, "V-U2" and Sphere provide crystal-clear sound and haptic seats, which use vibrations so guests can "feel" the experience.
"We knew all the tremendous capabilities of the technology, but we didn't know what to expect from the process of making this film," Steinberg said. "The work became a true collaboration between band, artists, producers and technology teams. The end result is a cinematic experience that transports viewers into the energy and beauty of the live show."
Tickets start at $100, including tax and fees. The film is screened almost every day in addition to "Postcard From Earth," a film directed by Darren Aronofsky and created specifically to be screened at Sphere.
