Baha Mar plans to add a fourth resort to its luxury development in Nassau on the site of the recently demolished Melia Nassau Beach.
The resort, which is as-yet unbranded, is expected to open in 2029 and will include 350 rooms and 50 luxury residences on 12 acres of land. Plans call for four restaurants, including what Baha Mar called "an intimate omakase experience" on the hotel's rooftop and a celebrity chef-helmed beachfront restaurant; a 14,000-square-foot spa; pools; entertainment lounges; an outdoor bar; and family amenities.
Melia Nassau Beach closed in 2021 and had been marked for Baha Mar expansion. The site sits on the western edge of the Baha Mar complex, directly fronting Cable Beach and adjacent to the Baha Bay waterpark.
Guests will also have access to the rest of Baha Mar's amenities. Currently three other resort flags are planted on property: The Grand Hyatt, SLS and Rosewood.
The new resort will be designed by the Foster + Partners firm, and a statement from Kirsten Scott, the design director, indicated an emphasis on solitude and calm, as well as on Bahamian heritage and tradition. "From the very first moment of arrival, visitors are [to be] surrounded by nature and connected to water throughout," she said.
Baha Mar plans to make a $350 million investment in the expansion, which president Graeme Davis said "underscores Baha Mar's role as a catalyst for continued economic growth and job creation in the Bahamas."
