Luxury safari operator Asilia Africa plans to expand into Uganda with a new lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The company will also launch a destination management service in Uganda and Rwanda.
The new lodge, named Erebero Hills (meaning "a place where you can see far"), is set to open in early 2026 on the northern fringe of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to over half of the world's mountain gorilla population. Open year-round, the lodge will feature eight forest-view suites, each with its own viewing deck and 180-degree views of the forest.
As part of the initiative, Asilia Africa is partnering with local organization Change a Life Bwindi to engage with the indigenous Batwa and Bakiga communities. The company has committed to planting 25,000 indigenous trees to create a reforested buffer zone around the existing national park.

Cai Tjeenk Willink, head of strategic operations at Asilia Africa, said the lodge's location will enable guests to experience gorilla trekking while participating in community activities.
Bookings for Erebero Hills are expected to open in December. For more information, please visit the Asilia site or email enquiries@asiliaafrica.com.
